Job Overview: We are looking for experienced support workers who can provide one to one support for individuals who go through our training programs. Primarily support for vulnerable individuals with addiction, mental health and financial challenges. Including doing referrals to relevant external services and support. Including, CAB, Change Grow Live, Counselling and other support services. However, support is not exclusively for vulnerable individuals as training program is open to all who are keen to improve their life, so will include peer to peer professional support and advice.

The Role

As a Training Support Worker you will work with individuals with various levels of need. From extremely vulnerable to professionals needing minimal guidance. Our Transformational training program is open to all. Your role will be to work with clients as they progress through the training program over a period of months and provide after support once they complete the course to ensure positive outcomes are not only achieved but maintained. This will include being a mentor to specific people and leading on training projects which contribute to company objectives. Mentoring is a key element of the role, promoting a flexible yet consistent approach to engaging in rehabilitation, employment, training and/or education, budgeting and building on their social skills and development to achieve their goals in life.

You will be required to offer practical, emotional and social support. A person-centred approach will be adopted to ensure we are meeting the needs of each individual we support. Full support will be given by senior staff including line manager which is the Training & Program Manager.

A primary part of the role will be to champion our company wide mantra that positive thinking can bring positive change and that people also need to be willing to receive the support we provide, so that resources are best allocated to those in need.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Support individuals through the months long training program, including basic administrative support if required. Support individuals through their addiction recovery, mental health issues and financial challenges. Including budgeting and trauma support. Work with individuals to develop an after-plan for post training success outcomes Support the development of person supported skills, confidence and self-esteem. Encouraging and supporting the development of new skills Provide and participate in appropriate support planning, review and assessment whilst ensuring people are central to these processes. Develop person supported life management and independent living skills. Support people to achieve their educational, training or employment options. Assess individual needs and give positive recommendations for improvements Be available for phonecalls, monthly interviews and video calls and general communication with clients. Be available a few evenings a week, to support clients during evening training sessions. Work in partnership and develop professional, positive working relationships. Receive training and support to be able to deliver the Pioneer Training program as required and do relevant presentations. Therefore, public speaking may be required.
Additional Requirements

Willingness to work shifts including evenings and in particular Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Evening/split shifts is normally 9am-4pm and then 6-8pm for days that evening work is required, which is expected to be twice a week. However, this is flexible and will be confirmed once training and client needs are assessed. Additional shift allowance renumeration is given for days worked. Optional Saturday overtime available if needed to meet client needs, but not compulsory. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form to satisfactorily perform the job role. Ability to keep accurate records and manage work load and cases Ability to keep clients private details confidential Follow company code of conduct and work in pairs and follow all risk and safety advice when supporting clients Full manual driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Key Desirable Skills & Experience

Experience or qualifications in a support worker role Experience in supporting people with mental health or addiction issues Experience of supporting people through financial challenges/budgeting An interest in helping other people, regardless of their condition. The ability to communicate clearly and sensitively when talking to people and their families. Good listening skills. Great problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt and act accordingly to situations. Good time management skills to be able to support the needs of multiple people. The ability to keep up with changing standards and codes of conduct. The ability to work both alone and as part of a team. A high level of patience and emotional resilience. Being empathetic towards everyone. The ability to make good, positive relationships with people and their families. The ability to communicate with other healthcare and relevant professionals. Great verbal and written communication skills. A non-judgemental attitude regardless of a person's needs. The ability to remain calm under pressure and when dealing with challenging situations.
