Role Overview:
As a Transaction Monitoring Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of the institution's financial systems by detecting, investigating, and reporting suspicious activity. You will be responsible for real-time and post-event monitoring of electronic money transactions, identifying potential risks related to money laundering, fraud, terrorist financing, and other financial crimes.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and analyze transaction activity across all customer accounts using the institution's transaction monitoring system.
Investigate alerts generated by the monitoring systems to identify unusual or suspicious behavior.
Escalate cases of suspected money laundering or other financial crimes to the MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer).
Prepare and file iSARs (Internal Suspicious Activity Reports) to MLRO.
Collaborate with the onboarding/KYC team to ensure consistency in customer risk assessments.
Conduct periodic reviews of transaction monitoring rules, thresholds, and scenarios for effectiveness and relevance.
Support the development and tuning of automated monitoring systems.
Stay current with evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to AML/CFT.
Assist in compliance audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal investigations as required.
Provide input to the improvement of policies, procedures, and training materials.
Key Requirements:
Essential:
2+ years of experience in transaction monitoring, AML, or financial crime within an EMI, fintech, or financial institution.
Strong understanding of AML/CFT regulations (e.g., 5AMLD, FCA rules, PSD2).
Experience with transaction monitoring tools (e.g., Huntli, Sumsub, ComplyAdvantage, or similar).
Ability to interpret complex transaction data and customer behavior.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
