Title: Transfer Station Chemist

Location: West Midlands

Salary: Up to \xc2\xa325,000 per annum

Term: Permanent

SRG are working with a leading waste management and recycling company who have a long and successful history of supporting the UK chemical industry. They are now looking for a Transfer Site Chemist to join the team in the West Midlands. The successful candidate will work both on site and in the laboratory to ensure that waste is assessed and handled in an approved manner, whilst ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental compliance are met and demonstrating continuous improvement in productivity. Chemistry graduates are encouraged to apply.

Accountabilities

  • Monitor and control all processes within the facility in terms of people and equipment to ensure operational productivities.
  • Ensure security of waste entering the facility and disposal in line with any stated customer requirement, at minimised cost.
  • Ensure inputs and outputs meet defined standards e.g. PPC, discharge consent, pre-acceptance, acceptance and onward transfer caveats, whilst driving best practice and continuous improvement in cost control and processing operations.
  • Control material flows through the site to ensure delays and backlogs are minimised.
  • Carry out regular stock control and inventory of materials, both waste and consumables held on site.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping in all areas and ensure any housekeeping activities are carried out in an effective and timely manner.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with all company policy, process and procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum HND in Chemistry, or similar qualification with significant chemistry content
  • Industrial experience preferred in the chemical or waste industry
  • Applications from chemistry graduates welcome in consideration for junior roles
  • Good organisational and influencing skills
