Balfour Beatty is seeking an experienced
Transformation Lead
to spearhead the UK workstream of our Engineering Design Centre transformation.
This workstream is focussed on seeking opportunities to maximise Balfour Beatty UK's use of the EDC, whilst at the same time driving process standardisation, automation and improvement, designed to deliver measurable improvement in operational performance, productivity, and ways of working.
The Transformation Lead will partner with senior leadership and cross?functional teams to shape, guide and sustain change through this workstream across the organisation. This role requires an adaptable leader who can operate across strategy, operations, and culture, and evolve with the programme as it grows.
Core programme outcomes include:
Greater capture of the design/BIM work undertaken by Balfour Beatty UK within the EDC.
Greater standardisation of processes and use of automation across agreed "in scope" activities
Successful transfer of activities for "in scope" activities to the EDC.

What you'll be doing
Strategic Leadership
Provide clear leadership and direction for transformation activity, ensuring alignment with Balfour Beatty's strategic objectives.
Shape and continually refine the workstream as it evolves.

Oversee planning, delivery and monitoring of improvement initiatives.
Drive operational efficiency and productivity through progressive thinking and ways of working.
Promote integrated, collaborative working across functions and projects.

Stakeholder Engagement
Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and operational teams.
Secure alignment, sponsorship and engagement across the business.

Change Leadership
Develop and implement effective change approaches that support people through transition.
Anticipate and manage resistance to maintain momentum.

Performance & Benefits Management
Define key metrics and indicators to track progress and impact of the workstream.
Report regularly to senior leadership on outcomes, risks and next steps.
Who we're looking for
Experience
Proven track record of leading transformation or major change programmes in complex engineering or infrastructure environments.
Experience shaping operating models and leading multi?disciplinary teams, ideally including moves to automation and off/near?shore functions or shared services.
Strong commercial and operational understanding with proven ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Good financial literacy, including benefits tracking and programme budgeting.
Skills & attributes
Strategic thinker with ability to operate confidently at Executive/MD level.
Practical, grounded approach suited to site and operational environments.
Comfortable working with data, KPIs and digital tools that support decision?making and improvement.
Strong communicator and coach, able to develop capability and build high?performing teams.
Qualifications
Degree in Business, Management or relevant discipline (Master's desirable).
Training or certification in improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma or similar).
