About the Role
As Transition Support Officer, you'll work alongside a volunteer board to support the development of processes, systems, and strategies that will future-proof the venture. The board consists of dedicated individuals with limited availability, so we're seeking someone who can hit the ground running, lead initiatives, and act with autonomy and precision.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Systems:
Design and document core procedures for retail operations (e.g. stock management, supplier engagement, ordering schedules).
Human Resources:
Establish appropriate HR systems to support volunteers and staff, ensuring compliant and sustainable practices.
Financial Oversight:
Implement systems for accurate bookkeeping and produce monthly management accounts for board review.
Monitoring & Evaluation:
Create mechanisms to assess the impact of new initiatives, and track shop performance.
Outreach:
Building local partnerships and community engagement.
About You
We're looking for someone methodical, proactive, and community-minded. You thrive in a multi-faceted role and are confident managing workflows and coordinating across functions.
Essential skills and experience:
Experience in operational management or business support in a retail or charity environment
Working knowledge of financial record-keeping and budgeting
Ability to create documentation and systems from scratch
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working independently and managing priorities
Desirable:
Knowledge of community development or social enterprise
Experience in volunteer coordination and HR processes
Fundraising or grant application expertise
