Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Transport and Fleet Manager to oversee our logistics operations, ensuring the efficient and compliant management of our transport fleet. This role involves handling driver recruitment, training, compliance, vehicle maintenance, and overall fleet efficiency. The ideal candidate will work closely with various departments to guarantee a seamless order-to-delivery experience for our customers. Working hours are 45 hours per week, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Start times are flexible, but most days will run roughly from 5:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
Driver Recruitment & Management:
Recruit drivers annually to accommodate seasonal business demands.
Manage a team of 10-20 LGV drivers and 1 - 3 HGV drivers, ensuring productivity and professionalism.
Handle absence management, availability, holiday planning, and disciplinary actions.
Training & Development:
Train new drivers on company-specific delivery processes.
Ensure all drivers understand and adhere to health & safety regulations.
Fleet & Vehicle Maintenance:
Act as the primary point of contact for drivers regarding vehicle issues.
Oversee a mechanic to maintain the roadworthiness of all company vehicles.
Arrange warranty and non-warranty repairs of LGV vehicles.
Arrange and monitor HGV vehicle inspections and maintenance.
Ensure compliance with DVSA regulations and hold responsibility for the Company O Licence.
Operational Oversight:
Monitor driver productivity and ensure deliveries are executed professionally.
Manage timesheets and submit weekly payroll for drivers.
Arrange suitable accommodation for drivers on overnight routes.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Implement and monitor health & safety procedures for drivers.
Ensure all transport operations comply with statutory legislation.
Collaboration & Customer Experience:
Work closely with company Directors, the Warehouse Manager, the Sales and Support Manager to maintain high service standards.
