4 on, 4 off (12-hour shifts - 05.30am - 05.30pm)

About the job



We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Transport Coordinator to join our logistics team on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern. In this key role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating transport logistics across the business. You will ensure that daily schedules are executed efficiently, all drivers are issued with accurate and complete information packs, and effective communication is maintained with internal departments to support the successful completion of all transport operations.

Alongside our popular Holidays programme, we also provide private coach hire for a wide range of occasions and deliver daily public service transport and school transport for thousands of pupils.

Key Responsibilities:



Ensure the daily scheduled transport plan is achieved economically and meeting all SLA targets

Ensuring all drivers receive their driver packs including work tickets, keys, fuel cards and maps to ensure the vehicle leave site and reached its destination within SLA deliver targets

Escalate any vehicle defects to the Transport Management Team.

Effective management and planning of drivers, through on-going communication and using our state-of-the-art transport software.

Controlling and planning an agreed amount of resource (vehicles, drivers, trailers); ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to (Working Time Directive and EU drivers' hours regulations)

To ensure the daily plan is completed in real time, managing resources effectively, maximising utilisation whilst minimising cost

Ensure that our internal tracking systems are kept organised and updated to an exceptional standard

Make regular use of in-house systems to manage workload and monitor efficiency

Understanding and achieving key performance targets relating to the safety and efficiency of our fleet (including utilisation and costing)

Constantly communicate with our customer service teams and drivers to ensure customer KPI's and targets are achieved and maintained

Assisting the Operation Manager as necessary

Carrying out various vehicle and driver compliance checks

Downloading vehicle tachographs units, monitoring driver's hours

Assisting with vehicle and driver compliance tasks

Resolving customer complaints

Be able to comfortably organise your own workload and will be able to work in a pressurised environment to meet key deadlines.

Checking all private hires for any discrepancies or faults.

Be able to interpret good geographical knowledge

Working independently and as part of a team, organising and prioritising your own workload to meet key deadlines.

Flexibility to cover weekend working and early starts or late finishes on a rota basis or as and when required.

Skills and Experience



Resilient when under pressure and able to react and adapt quickly to proactively seek solutions

Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively to all key stakeholders

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential requisites

You should be PC literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word in particular.

A proactive, hands-on approach, able to take instruction and direction with a focus on results.

High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Knowledge of the transport industry and regulatory compliance is beneficial.

At least 2 years' experience in a transport and logistics environment or currently studying as a planning graduate/recently qualified and looking for that first planning role.

Some geographic knowledge would also prove advantageous
