We are looking for an organised, proactive and detail-oriented
Transport Coordinator
to join our Tool & Plant Hire team. This is a key role within the business, responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely delivery and collection of equipment to and from our valued customer base.
The successful candidate will play a vital part in planning and coordinating our transport operations in the most efficient way possible, maximising route planning while meeting time-critical deadlines. You will also be responsible for monitoring vehicle defects and ensuring they are resolved or escalated promptly, as well as supporting our drivers with any issues they may encounter on site.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate daily transport operations for tool and plant hire deliveries and collections, ensuring optimal efficiency and strict adherence to time deadlines.
Allocate and upload all driver schedules, deliveries and collections to the driver mobile applications.
Be the first point of contact for drivers, providing support and resolving any site-related issues they encounter.
Monitor and manage vehicle defects, ensuring timely resolution or escalation in line with company procedures.
Liaise with customers, internal teams, and drivers to ensure a smooth and professional delivery experience.
Maintain accurate records of all transport activity, including delivery logs, defect reports, and job allocations.
Identify and implement improvements in route planning and overall transport efficiency.
Support
workshop operations
and assist with the movement and preparation of equipment when necessary.
Contribute to monthly logistics and profitability analysis to help drive performance improvements.
Ideal Candidate
Proven experience in a transport or logistics coordination role, ideally within a hire or construction-related industry.
Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive jobs daily.
Strong communication skills with a calm and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
Confidence using transport or logistics systems and mobile workforce applications.
Ability to handle vehicle defect reporting and escalate issues as required.
A proactive attitude with a keen eye for operational efficiency and customer service.
