About the Role



Barnes Logistics is one of the UK's leading providers of logistical support. We have 5 sites nationwide, a fleet of over 90 vehicles, and 120+ employees. This role is based in our Wardle depot.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and proactive Transport Coordinator to join our team. The right candidate will be organised and personable, with the drive and determination to help us reach our goals for continued growth, efficiency, and improvement.

Responsibilities



To act as the first point of contact for site visitors, incoming calls, and office administration. Daily administration e.g. scanning and checking proof of deliveries (PODs), adding jobs onto the system, and general admin. Compliance administration e.g. booking servicing, monitoring infringements / defects, and driver hours management. Answering incoming calls from drivers, colleagues and customers in a helpful and professional manner. Monitor and track transportation activities, providing regular updates on shipment status and resolving any issues or delays. Sourcing backloads. Assist in analysing transportation data and generating reports to evaluate performance, identify trends, and recommend areas for improvement. Assisting with driver management, including briefing and debriefing, driver training, and meetings and reviews when required. To contribute to all aspects of day-to-day transport operations. Working flexibly with the team and under the guidance of the Transport Supervisor and management team. A flexible and supportive approach to responsibilities, including a willingness to cover and help out with ad hoc duties as and when required. Commuting as and when required e.g. to other Barnes sites, to transport drivers to nearby service sites to collect company lorries. Driving company vehicles as and when required.

Requirements



Clean driving licence essential. 1-2 years' relevant transport office experience desirable, but not essential. GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 preferable. An awareness of transport planning and compliance would be advantageous. Strong organisational skills. Strong IT skills e.g. Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook. Supportive and helpful team player. Motivated and proactive. Willingness to learn. Ability to remain calm and organised under pressure. Experience of using transport management systems desirable but not essential.

Benefits



A generous starting salary of between 30,000-32,000, dependent on experience. 28 days paid holiday per annum, increasing up to 33 days with length of service. The successful candidate will work in a hardworking, ambitious and progressive team with highly experienced and skilled transport leadership. Shift Pattern



Monday-Friday, 09:00-18:00. Flexibility and occasional shift cover required.
