Premier Paper Group are looking for a Transport Coordinator to help manage all transport activities at our HQ in Minworth, Birmingham. The role involves a mixture of admin and driver management, to ensure legal compliance and cost effective planning.
The successful candidate will need to have good experience in transport planning & administration, with a high level of attention to detail, and thorough organisational skills. There is great opportunity for internal progression and training towards a Transport Managers CPC qualification.
Hours
9am-6pm (some flex required to cover earlier / later shifts when training and ad-hoc when required)
Main responsibilities:
Maintain fleet compliance - including maintenance schedules, taillift Lolers, tyre management, defect rectification. Liaising with service agents to ensure all deadlines are met and all legal paperwork is up to date
Driver management - daily planning of work, performance, infringements, debriefs, overtime, hoildays/absence, training, H&S issues etc.
Support the management team with accurate reporting and compiling of monthly trend analysis reports.
Support both the National Transport and Group Transport manager with all aspects of Transport administration
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Experience of managing a team of drivers
Knowledge of 'O' licence and transport legal compliance
Understanding of vehicle maintenance and mechanical procedures
Ability to plan driver resources strategically, tactically and operationally and utilise the fleet to its maximum capacity.
Knowledge / experience of Microlise e-pod system would be an advantage.
Good UK road network knowledge to ensure planning efficiencies are embedded in to the operation
Ability to Work closely with the warehouse teams and other staff to ensure that all logistics solutions are fully integrated and designed to improve customer service.
High ability level with Microsoft applications required, in particular with excel need to be able to create and manipulate spreadsheets
Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Multi task focused, highly organised and have outstanding attention to detail
Fuel card management
Transport manager CPC National (Desirable)
HGV licence (desirable)
IOSH managing safely or any other accredited Health and safety certificates
Training to be Provided
Familiarisation of branch network
Full risk assessment and safe working procedure overview

Full training on computer packages relating to warehouse and transport operations.
'O' licence CPC training or refresher course
