Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Transport & Logistics Operations Manager to take responsibility for the smooth running of our logistics activities. The role focuses on achieving efficiency in delivery operations, maintaining compliance with UK transport legislation, and delivering a high standard of service to our customers.

Main Duties

Organise and oversee daily transport schedules using digital platforms such as CX and similar applications. Track performance of both fleet and subcontracted drivers, establishing KPIs including journey cost and delivery times, while improving routes with transport management tools. Guarantee compliance with all UK transport rules, covering driver working hours, vehicle licensing, insurance, and road safety standards. Address operational issues such as breakdowns, late deliveries, or customer complaints, ensuring solutions and long-term improvements are implemented. Manage workforce and resource allocation in real time, adapting to peaks in demand. Provide management reports on costs, efficiency, and performance to the company director. Build strong working relationships with contractors, courier partners, and relevant authorities to maintain an effective logistics network. Keep accurate records to meet statutory, sponsor, and audit requirements.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience in transport or delivery operations management, preferably in app-based or technology-led logistics. Analytical ability with proven use of KPIs, reporting tools, and performance dashboards. Strong understanding of UK transport legislation and operator compliance requirements. Effective communicator with leadership and problem-solving skills, comfortable managing part-time, remote, or contracted staff. Degree in Logistics, IT, Business Administration, or related discipline is desirable.
