We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Transport Manager to oversee and coordinate all transportation activities within our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing logistics operations, ensuring timely delivery of goods, and maintaining excellent customer service standards. This role requires strong leadership, management skills, and a comprehensive understanding of supply chain processes. Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily transportation operations to ensure efficient delivery schedules
Manage a team of drivers and logistics staff, providing leadership and support to optimise performance
Develop and implement transportation strategies that align with organisational goals and optimise costs
Oversee route planning and scheduling using specialised logistics software to ensure timely deliveries
Maintain compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and safety standards
Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal departments to coordinate shipments and resolve any logistical issues promptly
Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and ensure all transport assets are in good working condition
Utilise Microsoft Office programmes such as Word, Excel, Outlook to generate reports, track deliveries, and communicate effectively
Analyse supply chain data to identify areas for improvement in efficiency and service quality
Ensure accurate record keeping of all transportation activities for audit purposes
Experience
Proven management experience within a logistics or supply chain environment
Strong driving background with valid driving licences appropriate for the organisation's fleet requirements
Extensive knowledge of logistics operations, supply chain management, and transportation regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and IT systems relevant to logistics management
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively under pressure
Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to lead teams and liaise professionally with clients and stakeholders
Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to motivate teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Previous experience in customer service roles is advantageous but not essential
