The Transport Manager will manage the day-to-day transport operation, provide effective management of resources. Your role will involve working and aligning with a team of managers, supervisors, and drivers, and implementing strategies to enhance operational performance, fully adhere to all legal compliance requirements, Safety and customer satisfaction as aligned to the company's strategic 4 pillars.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):



Health & Safety:



Implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all transport legislative regulations. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to decide root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, planning and health & safety to address safety-related issues and implement solutions. Implementing Safety process's where applicable to promote a best-in-class attitude to workplace safety across all colleagues In the HTLL business. Drive a culture of safety excellence throughout the organization, promoting awareness and accountability at all transport depot levels.

Management & Engagement:



Develop and lead the depot operation customer service, policies, procedures, standards and lead continuous improvement to enhance the overall and deliver customer experience. Collaborate with other departments onsite, including operations, commercial (as applicable) and planning, to drive synergies and solution to both internal and external customers. Using visible leadership to demonstrate and drive behaviours that support the company values and pillars.

People & Development Management:



Ensure compliance and robust implementation of group HR policies, procedures, and programs to support the recruitment, retention, and development of HT colleagues. Engage with internal support teams to identify staffing needs and develop strategies to attract and retain qualified candidates. Lead performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, and career development planning, to support employee growth and development. Develop and implement training and development programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of employees at all levels of the transport team. Manage employee engagement initiatives, such as employee surveys, recognition programs, and team-building activities, to foster a positive and supportive work environment.

Financial Management:



Own and Understand the P&L for your Transport department, optimise revenue and profitability within the HT Network. Working with Regional and Divisional managers in alignment with company goals and strategic objectives. Prepare and manage depot budgets, including Budget forecasts, annual budget presentations and coaching and mentoring Assistant Transport Managers and Supervisors through this process to ensure financial targets are met. Collaborate with operations, commercial and contract management to develop pricing strategies, cost-saving initiatives, and revenue enhancement opportunities. Working with Financial business partners to conduct regular financial reviews and performance assessments to track progress against budgeted goals and identify areas for CI for the benefit of both HT and its customers. Manage financial reporting processes, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and provide prompt and accurate financial analysis to support decision-making.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:



Experience of managing financial P&L's and driving financial performance and accountability through teams. Experience using a broad range of industry leading Transport Management Systems and other support systems such as Maintenance, Planning and Tachograph applications. Experience of managing multiple internal and external stakeholders. Experience of managing people effectively. National CPC holder Strong decision-making skills. Experience of managing in a large site-based multi customer transport operation and delivering innovation within the operation for the wider benefit of the business (desirable) Experience of central transport functions and understanding the role and support given to local site teams (desirable) Experience of a culture of continuous incremental improvements. Examples of significant process and procedural improvements will be sought (desirable).
