At Axil, a fast-growing leader in UK waste and recycling services, we're seeking a dynamic

Transport Manager

to drive our logistical operations and help us deliver exceptional service nationwide. You'll join a collaborative team that's committed to innovation, sustainability and operational excellence, and oversee our fleet, which includes 7 HGVs and 13 vans.

What You'll Be Doing:



Provide strong leadership and line management to the transport team, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant operation. Manage staff hours, overtime, and budgets to deliver productivity targets and high service levels. Ensure full compliance with transport legislation -- including driver hours, vehicle maintenance, and operator licence conditions. Represent Axil at customer meetings, presentations, and site visits, promoting our professional image and operational excellence. Attend and investigate all major road traffic collisions in the region, producing thorough reports and corrective actions. Collaborate across business units to meet wider company objectives and continuously improve safety, efficiency, and customer service. Manage and communicate transport information clearly to staff and stakeholders via phone, email, and meetings. Lead improvement projects to enhance safety, operational effectiveness, and sustainability outcomes. Liaise with external agencies to optimise vehicle movement and minimise disruption from incidents, weather, or road conditions. Coach, develop, and empower the transport team - fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Monitor and improve performance management systems, ensuring SMART targets are in place and regularly reviewed. Make informed operational decisions with consideration of P&L impact and business priorities. Ensure regular communication and reporting to your line manager.

What You'll Bring:



Proven experience in transport management for a minimum of 3 years, ideally within logistics, waste, or industrial services. Strong understanding of transport compliance, operator licensing, and driver regulations. Excellent people management, leadership, communication, and coaching skills - with the ability to motivate teams and drive results. A proactive approach to safety, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. Holding a Transport Manager CPC is essential. H&S experience & IOSH Managing Safely. Familiarity with transport management systems, telematics, and Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel).

Other Detail:



This role is based from our Waste Transfer Station in Cannock Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week but flexibility is required Salary to be discussed during interview stage
