Micheldever Tyre Services is looking for a proactive Transport Manager to drive the Transport department forward with new initiatives and deliver strategic goals of the Logistics Operation. Managing and developing the Operational requirements of the Transport Department through strict adherence to current Legislation & Safe Systems of Work.

: Base salary 35-37K DOE, 35-39,800 OTE

About you:

Full UK driving licence

Knowledgeable in all aspects of transport management including 'O' licence and tachograph requirements

Experience in a logistics environment

Experience in a transport/fleet management role

Proven experience of team management and development

Demonstrable leadership skills, staffing levels/planning skills

Experience of Health & Safety management in a similar environment

A strong understanding of workplace Health & Safety

Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems

About the role:

Support the Site Manager, ensuring all Transport Staff comply with all aspects of Legal and Company defined legislation and policies.

Investigate delivery delays and errors and take appropriate action to resolve

Always focus on customer service targets

Achievement of pre-determined cost objectives

Delivery of routine KPI targets

Provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers, providing prompt, accurate and appropriate information

Ensure that Company initiatives are monitored and driven effectively

Effect smooth implementation of Company Policies, Practices and Procedures.

Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) was founded in 1972 as a part-time venture providing car servicing and tyres. Today, Micheldever Group is the fastest growing wholesaler, distributor and retailer of tyres in the UK, selling six million tyres nationwide, (20 percent of the total UK market) and employing approximately 2100 employees - company wide.

To support this business, we have built a wholesale distribution network of 14 sites around the UK supplying over 6,000 retailers and our own retail chain Protyre which is consistently growing. This is achieved by skilled, focused and determined teams across 1 central distribution and 13 warehouse operations nationwide.
