We are recruiting a Deputy Transport Manager to support the day-to-day running of a busy transport operation. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced transport professional who can step in for the Transport Manager when required and ensure operations continue safely, legally, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Transport Manager with daily transport operations
Schedule drivers and monitor drivers' hours and compliance
Act as point of contact for drivers, providing guidance and support
Ensure all vehicles are maintained, inspected, and roadworthy
Plan routes and allocate resources efficiently
Monitor deliveries and resolve operational issues
Ensure compliance with transport legislation, WTD, and Health & Safety
Assist with audits, reporting, and KPI monitoring
Handle customer queries and complaints professionally
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in transport or logistics, ideally in a supervisory role
Strong knowledge of transport compliance and regulations
Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence - essential
Valid Driver CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
Good organisational and problem-solving skills
Confident using IT systems, including Excel and transport software
Strong communication and leadership skills

Working toward Transport Manager CPC
Experience with budgeting, planning, or team leadership
