The Transport Services Team is responsible for the provision of transport to meet the Council's passenger and fleet transport requirements.

We have a great opportunity to join the Client Transport team as a Transport Officer where collectively you will oversee 2,000+ education and social care passenger movements daily, across approximately 140 contracts and 59 suppliers.

This role requires you to liaise with transport providers, parents, schools, other professionals, and multi-agency teams so you will need to demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills. The successful applicant must be able to work on their own and as part of a team, manage their own workload in a continuously changing environment and our service requires you to be flexible to meet the demands during peak periods.



The role of the Transport Officer includes:

Planning and co-ordination of the provision of transport services Engagement and negotiation with service providers over contractual and operational matters, Effective Contract Management of Education and Social Care Transport Contracts, and, Support the adherence to legislation and policies.


The ideal candidate will have:

Strong negotiation skills, Experience in contract management, Prior experience in route scheduling, A commitment to continuous improvement of services, and, A proactive and solution-focused approach, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
