Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of our UK and EU road transport network.
Ensure all transport activities comply with internal policies, Operator Licence conditions, and legal obligations.
Drive systems and processes to ensure accurate, accessible, and actionable transport data to inform key decisions.
Champion the use of telematics to improve driver performance, training, and engagement.
Monitor and act on driver infringements; implement corrective actions to maintain compliance standards.
Manage all aspects of fleet maintenance, including preventive servicing, defect rectification, and reactive repairs to minimise downtime.
Conduct and oversee routine vehicle safety inspections in line with legal and company standards.
Ensure adherence to legislation including driver hours, tachograph rules, and the Working Time Directive.
Oversee fleet scheduling, routing, and load planning to maximise efficiency and service quality.
Investigate all transport-related incidents and accidents with thorough root cause analysis and remedial action plans.
Manage supplier relationships for vehicle servicing, repairs, hire, and fuel to control costs and maintain availability.
Oversee vehicle acquisition and disposal in line with lifecycle plans, age, and usage metrics.
Provide regular reports and analysis on fleet performance, cost control, maintenance expenditure, and fuel efficiency.
Compliance, Quality, and Safety
Ensure full compliance with all transport legislation, ISO Quality Procedures, and O-Licence requirements.
Support the maintenance of FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) standards across the operation.
Conduct transport and health & safety risk assessments and support company-wide safety initiatives.
Liaise with regulatory bodies such as DVSA, HSE, and local authorities during audits or inspections.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, compliance, and safe working practices.
Provide expert guidance on the safe transport of dangerous goods by road in line with ADR legislation.
Ensure correct documentation, packaging, labelling, placarding, and vehicle compliance for dangerous goods.
Conduct internal audits and oversee compliance checks on ADR-related transport activity.
Lead investigations and reports for any dangerous goods incidents or non-conformities.
Produce and submit DGSA annual compliance reports and support external audits.
Deliver training and awareness sessions for drivers and operational staff.
* Act as the primary contact for authorities and stakeholders on dangerous goods transport compliance.
