The Role

We are looking for a hard-working, proactive team player to join our operations team. You'll have a great eye for detail, a good sense of humour and the ability to remain precise while working under pressure and to tight deadlines.

This role would suit someone with a minimum of 2 years' experience in the courier / transport / logistics / freight industry - whether that's been as a driver, in operations, or in import/export / freight forwarding.

Main Responsibilities

Liaise with clients, drivers and suppliers via phone, email and face to face.

Calculating which vehicle to allocate, using weights and dimensions

Efficient route planning for our vehicles

Ensure a high level of attention to detail so customers receive a seamless service and drivers are fully aware of their instructions.

Take bookings, send quotes and allocate jobs to drivers.

Use IT systems confidently and be willing to learn and adapt to new systems and software.

Update clients and systems with job status, costs, PODs and other key information.

Carry out general office and administrative duties as required.

Carry out some basic warehouse duties (stock counts, labelling, palletising).

Undertake occasional driving duties - you MUST be able to drive a Luton van with tail lift.

Learn quickly and retain information - an excellent memory is important.

Handle out-of-hours calls when necessary (on a rota basis).

Requirements

Minimum

2 years' experience

within the courier / transport / logistics / freight industry (office-based and/or as a driver).

Previous experience in a fast-paced environment is highly beneficial.

5-year checkable work history.

DBS check will be required.

Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 points for insurance purposes and no previous bans).

Must live within approximately 15 miles of Heathrow Airport.

Right to work in the UK.
