General information



We have an exciting vacancy for a Transport Planner to be based at our Head Office in Bury. In this role you will work as part of the Transport team, with a focus on planning the logistics and movement of vehicles within the HGV lorry loader and Van Fleet across a multi-depot network. This is a varied role which involves full responsibility for efficient and effective route planning, ensuring driver's workloads are achievable and fall in line with current legislation, and data entry and analysis along with using BCA planning software.

We're looking for someone with excellent organisation skills, strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and above all, someone who enjoys working in a fast paced, high-pressure environment. You'll need good geographical and transport network knowledge, ideally from working in the Transport or Logistics sector. In addition to the above, you'll thrive on problem solving, be a great team player and have a strong focus on delivering world class customer service.

ey Responsibilities and Accountabilities



Safety performance and culture:



Maintain a safe working environment and assure compliance with all safety rules Management of all legislation in relation to the EU directive on driver's hours Liaising with the maintenance team to ensure vehicles are available for 6 weekly inspection, Including any LOLER Inspection/examination

Quality:



Ensure stock is delivered to a high standard Monitoring of all jobs ensuring the quality standards are met and delivered within the required timescales

Delivery:



The Transport Planner will process of all orders and workloads through BCA Ensure all orders processed, are completed & delivered on time and in full Plan workloads effectively Daily liaison with the Hire Desk & sales team to provide excellent business solutions, always. Identify operational issues and offer support and solutions within own department and other departments within the business

Cost:



Control overtime in-line with budgeted hours. Ensure drivers capture all damages on returning assets Ensure fleet is fully utilised and 3PL usage is kept to a minimum

People:



Daily support and first point of contact for drivers with site issues and general concerns. This includes end of shift de-briefs. Challenge poor behaviour in the right way and provide regular feedback to the team. Maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional manner

Person Specification



Desirable



2 Years transport planning experience Experience with using Big Change Apps or similar planning software National/International CPC Category C+E licence

Day shift, working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday between 08.00-16.30.
