Transport Supervisor
40 hours per week, alternating shift pattern
Early shift: 5.30am - 2pm
Late shift: 3.30 - midnight
Candidates must be flexible to support overtime as and when required.
Reporting to the Transport Manager, the Transport Supervisor ensures a high standard of health and safety is maintained. They assign duties and supervise and report upon the work of varying numbers of drivers working in a warehouse environment. They provide effective leadership, communication, motivation and training/development. They ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to and manage performance through an agreed set of Key Performance Indicators (KPI). They ensure that team members are trained in processes and individual progress, and performance is monitored. They will be required to carry out any further tasks as deemed necessary by the shift management team.
Summary of main responsibilities:
Ensure safety of all employees, visitors, customers and contractors in the warehouse and yard.
To carry out start and end of shift briefings, communicate start of shift objectives, brief company communications and carry out other meetings as necessary.
To work closely with Control Tower to ensure deliveries are on time, and to take controlled steps in line to maintain performance targets.
To actively check equipment, ensure anything that has been reported as a concern has been followed up. Including Start of Shift (SOS) Vehicle checks.
To carry out/delegate Gemba Kanri (GK) audits covering Manual Handling, Driving Standards and Standard Operation Procedures.
To create One Point Lessons (OPL), brief staff and display ensuring understanding and compliance.
To manage the use of auditing systems such as Vision, Continuum and other IT to uphold compliance.
To compile and communicate any reports requested by the company to include end of shift reports.
To maintain visibility on shop floor.
To actively check the defect log and ensure anything that has been reported as a concern has been followed up.
To carry out any in house training themes.
To ensure crewing is at an operational level, and to check and audit timesheets.

To ensure ILU matrix/training plan is up to date.

To manage the use of transport management systems and other IT to process customer requirements and to remain compliant.
To manage customer schedules to meet shift targets.

To manage resources to cover staff absence & workload capabilities.
To develop and deliver appraisals and fact files.
