For over 50 years, Williams Haulage has delivered trusted, efficient and innovative logistics solutions across the UK and beyond. With a modern fleet of 33 Class 1 HGVs, 43 trailers, over 10,000 sq ft of warehousing, and a reputation built on honesty and integrity, we're proud to be a family-led business at the heart of the North Wales community.
We're now entering an exciting phase of growth - investing in our people, fleet, technology and future capability as we expand into new markets and build a more sustainable logistics operation. This is a great time to join us and make your mark.
The Role
As Transport Supervisor, you'll support the Transport Operations Manager to ensure our drivers, vehicles and depots operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with UK and EU legislation.
Based at our Cynwyd depot in Corwen (with regular travel to Deeside and Sandycroft depots), this is a hands-on, varied role where no two days are the same. You'll be a key point of contact for drivers and an important link between operations, compliance and finance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Overseeing compliance with EU and domestic driver hours regulations and the Working Time Directive across a driver team of approximately 37.
Infringement management, debriefing drivers in a timely manner.
Monitoring and maintaining driver licence and Driver CPC records.
Supporting Health and Safety compliance and audit readiness.
Managing incident and near-miss reporting, including vehicle damage investigations.
Scheduling vehicle maintenance and ensuring ongoing legal compliance.
Maximising fleet uptime while managing supplier performance and value.
Raising purchase orders and supporting cost control.
Leading driver recruitment and onboarding activities.
Providing day-to-day support, guidance and supervision to drivers.
Supporting incident management, including breakdowns, delays and contingency planning.
Ensuring accurate and timely submission of driver paperwork to support finance operations.
Resolving discrepancies promptly to keep operations running smoothly.
Supporting dispatch operations during peak periods, including hands-on loading where required.
About You
You'll bring a strong grounding in transport operations and compliance, along with a practical, people-focused approach.
We're looking for someone with:
Proven experience in transport compliance and operations.
Strong working knowledge of driver hours, WTD and health and safety legislation.
A confident, motivational supervisory style that builds trust and accountability.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Strong IT skills, with proficiency using transport compliance/management systems (e.g. Tachomaster, Mandata, or similar).
High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
What's On Offer
Be part of a friendly, inclusive, supportive, and people-first culture.
The chance to make a real impact in a growing, forward-thinking business.
Company-funded training and professional development (CPC refresher, Health and Safety courses etc.).
Permanent contract.
Salary of 35,000.
Working Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Due to our 24/7 operation and the nature of this role, flexibility is required to be 'on call' remotely, outside of usual working hours.
