Job Title: Transport Supervisor

Job Purpose
As part of the Synergy LMS management team this role will manage the transport service so that it is a fit for purpose service appropriate to the varying and changing needs of Synergy LMS customers.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and promote a strong Health and safety culture both personally and within your team, ensure all policies are adhered to and identify and minimise risk where possible
Take a role in planning, allocating routes and vehicles ensuring sufficient flexibility is in place to meet the varying and changing needs of customers.
Help to ensure in house vehicles are compliant with all legal, regulatory and contractual requirements, and where necessary escalating any identified issues and recommending resolution to the service provider.
Ensure that all drivers are compliant and hold valid licences to drive and driver CPC is valid and up to date using the systems in place
Monitor and debrief driver infringements in a timely manner
Ensuring transport staff deliver the service appropriate to the changing needs of customers in line with relevant guidance and individual risk assessments
Manage and develop a team of drivers, in order to deliver a high-quality service to customers including the monitoring of driver related performance.
To take the lead in resolving unforeseen problems as they arise ensuring appropriate resolution of these and to utilise the learning to plan for future similar scenarios
To work as a member of the Synergy LMS management team, undertaking delegated tasks and responsibilities in line with the emerging needs and operational requirements of the service, including where necessary the contracting out of transport provision to other transport providers
Ensure existing KPI data reports are input and presented to management when required
To promote a sense of common purpose through the embodiment of Synergy LMS Mission, Vision and Values
To ensure high standards of service delivery through the consistent application of recognised standards and established policies, procedures and practices
To work in a safe and effective manner always
Undertake disciplinary investigations and action where required up to final written warning stage
Qualifications
No Transport Management qualification required however good conversant knowledge of transport operational compliance and understanding
Class 2 Driving Licence Required
Experience & Abilities
Experience in a similar supervisory role in the transport sector, including supervision of staff
Excellent written and verbal communication
Proven ability to plan and navigate journeys confidently

Responsibility's
Transport supervisors' responsibilities include:
The making of arrangements to ensure that drivers comply with drivers' hours and tachograph rules and with speed limits
The making of arrangements to ensure that the vehicles are maintained properly, including the inspection of vehicles at the appropriate time and the action taken to remedy defects found
The reporting and recording of vehicle defects by drivers
The making of arrangements to ensure that the vehicle/s are not overloaded
Ensure that Customers receive orders in an accurate and timely manner
