Reporting to the Transport Manager - The Transport Supervisor - End of Life Tyres is responsible for the driver management through the supervision of the site drivers.



Ensuring that the flow of work meets or exceeds the budget targets set, through motivating and giving direction to the drivers, so that a quality service is provided to all customers.



In addition this role you will pro-actively develop new customer business and maintain the management of current customer relationships to ensure customer retention.



You will ensure Compliance within the department, to ensure that the vehicle fleet is compliant with relevant external authorities and that drivers are compliant with their legal responsibilities.



Supervise all aspects of transport activities to ensure best use of resources and that all drivers are working to maximum effect.

The Day to Day

To support the collection service to measured service standards, through the allocation of work to drivers efficiently and cost-effectively and the debrief with drivers upon their return. Ensuring the customer demand is met by proactively managing the driver resource versus the vehicle requirements and ensuring that the vehicles are returned to the site full wherever possible and where time permits, additional customers/routes are collected. To ensure all collection staff meet the required standards in terms of customer service, courtesy, honesty, compliance, safety, and efficiency. To deputise for the Transport Manager in their absence. To complete tasks where appropriate with the drivers including but not limited to; the conducting of investigation meetings where appropriate, managing driver performance against agreed targets and managing drivers if these are not being met. To maintain and build customer relationships through liaison with customers and deal with any customer queries, ensuring their requirements are fulfilled to the highest standard. To co-ordinate a regular audit programme to ensure collections are accurate through the processing and reviewing of paperwork relating to customer collections. Ensure all safety defect checklists for vehicles are correctly filled in and act on reported defects as appropriate. Ensure completed documentation is filed efficiently and available for auditing purposes as required. To liaise with maintenance contractors to ensure the planned vehicle MOT/service requirements are completed and the arrangement of additional/replacement fleet where necessary. Ensure safety and transport regulations are adhered to by the administrating correctly of all documentation relating to transport e.g, Waste Transfer Notes; Drivers Manifests, Drivers Timesheets and clock cards, Tachographs, Driver Licence Checks. To ensure that any accident or near miss documentation is completed and reported to the Site and Compliance Managers in a timely manner, including the completion of any appropriate insurance paperwork if necessary. Take control of, and deal promptly with, problems and issues as they arise and where necessary escalate them to the appropriate level To undertake additional responsibilities as and when required to support delivery of the operation.
