Due to our ongoing growth within the company, we are looking for experienced Transport Supervisor to join the team in Leeds.

Monday to Friday 7.00am - 5.00pm.

7.5T or Class 2 License preferable but not essential FLT License preferable but not essential Experience of working in a builders merchant is essential

Job Overview


We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Transportation Supervisor to oversee the efficient management of our logistics and supply chain operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising transportation activities, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining excellent customer service standards. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills, along with a solid understanding of management, driving, and logistics processes. The Transportation Supervisor will play a key role in coordinating teams and liaising with various departments to optimise transportation workflows.

Responsibilities



Supervise daily transportation operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. Coordinate schedules for drivers and transport routes, optimising efficiency and utilisation. Oversee compliance with safety regulations and company policies across all transportation activities. Manage driver performance, providing guidance and support to ensure high standards of customer service. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle maintenance, and driver logs using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Collaborate with supply chain teams to forecast transportation needs and resolve logistical issues promptly. Monitor vehicle conditions and organise maintenance schedules to minimise downtime. Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to facilitate smooth operations. Analyse data related to transportation performance metrics to identify areas for improvement. Lead training sessions for team members on safety procedures, IT systems, and organisational protocols.

Requirements



Proven experience in management within logistics or transportation sectors. Valid driving licence with a clean driving record. Strong knowledge of supply chain management and logistics principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) with computer literacy skills. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and manage teams efficiently. Customer service orientation with a focus on delivering high-quality service standards.
