Our Lutterworth site are now recruiting for a Transport Supervisor on a full time, permanent basis.

Salary: \xc2\xa336,755 per annum

Working hours: Nights - 4 on 4 off, 18:00 - 06:00



The purpose of a Transport Supervisor is to be responsible for the supervision of the Transport Operators and the driver team, including execution of the daily plan for company and third-party resources, ensuring that all vehicles and drivers get clear precise instructions and are fully utilised. In doing this, ensuring that all service levels are achieved in a cost-effective manner, within the constraints of all legal requirements along with Company / Customer standards.

Key Duties of a Transport Supervisor:

  • Continuous review of transport function to reduce operating costs, improve earnings per mile, mpg and maximise revenue and profit.
  • Support initiatives in terms of driver attraction, retention, and return on investment.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis initiatives to find long term solutions to transport issues and implement.
  • Responsible for managing out of hours defects and callouts.
  • Review of actual versus planned activity on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Supporting the Transport Manager in all areas to ensure achievement of KPI\'s, and in monitoring the cost control against the transport budget.
  • Ensure that all service levels, including seasonal peaks, are supported efficiently, safely and cost effectively and within the constraints of drivers\' hours and H & S regulations.
  • Drive team focus on the provision of excellent service, both to customers and suppliers, developing long-term relationships to build efficiencies.
  • Identify the training and development needs for Transport Operators and implement development plans.
  • Ensure the fair and consistent application of a regular review / appraisal process including PDP\'s for the Transport Operations team
  • Ensure that any team /people issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently and in line with Company policy and procedures, including incident and accident investigations.
  • Liaise with the Transport Manager in the day to day running of the Transport Operation
  • To support the Depot management team in leading excellent depot communication, including all drivers, the Transport Operations, Customer Service Operation and the Warehouse team.
  • Support with the management of Driving/Working Time infringements.
  • To undertake additional tasks/duties as may be required by management from time to time.
Qualifications
  • Significant knowledge & experience of tachograph/ driving rules and regulations
  • Previous management/ supervisory experience
  • Attention to detail/accuracy
  • Negotiating skills, ability to influence and steer
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Adaptable and methodical approach to work/training
  • Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages
  • The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • Be professional, approachable and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation
