Transport Supervisor
to join our team.
Job Summary
As Transport Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our transport department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of goods. You'll manage drivers, routes, vehicles, and compliance while acting as a key link between transport, operations, and customer service teams.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and enjoys leading people.
Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate the activities of transport staff, including drivers, dispatchers, and support personnel.
Plan and optimise routes for efficiency and timely delivery
Assign routes, ensuring adequate staffing for shifts.
Manage all dispatch staff, RTWs and absence management, supporting the general manager conduct disciplinaries.
Act as the main point of contact between drivers and company departments.
Manage any delays or break down emergencies.
Monitor daily operations using GPS tracking and dispatch software.
Review and manage speeding notifications and daily maintenance checks (including agency staff).
Ensure all operations adhere to safety, legal, and company policies. Drivers wearing provided uniform & PPE. Ensuring all accidents/near misses are reported as per the companies H&S policy.
Maintain records of dispatch operations, incidents, and driver logs.
Manage the fleet of dispatch vehicles ensuring regular servicing, MOTs, inspections, and repairs are scheduled and completed.
Oversee weekly internal and external vehicle cleaning, ensuring vehicles are kept clean, presentable, and free from personal items.
Manage agency staff and coordinate vehicle hire as required to meet operational demands.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, maintenance, and compliance.
Provide out of hours support and emergency contact for drivers i.e. breakdowns, accidents, or route disruptions, as and when required.
Create and maintain rota for each driver/vehicle to ensure fairness in routes and vehicles on rotation.
Act as main contact between office and customer service teams.
