The Transport Supervisor (Nights) is responsible for overseeing the efficient deployment and routing of delivery vehicles across the UK during night operations. This includes ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining high safety standards, and responding to operational issues in real-time to guarantee smooth and timely deliveries.

Key Responsibilities
Monitor and manage driver schedules, ensuring compliance with driver hours and Working Time Directive legislation.
Utilise geographical knowledge to optimise fleet performance and route efficiency.
Plan vehicle deployment to minimise running costs and maximise vehicle utilisation and revenue.
Conduct driver briefings and debriefings at the beginning and end of shifts.
Manage and respond to customer requests and operational changes during night hours.
Re-route journeys and adapt plans as required to maintain service levels.
Ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved or exceeded.
Deliver comprehensive and accurate handovers between shifts.
Maintain consistent communication with drivers and depots.
Ensure all drivers have the correct paperwork and are informed of any road or delivery issues.
Monitor driver punctuality via tracking systems and address delays or issues proactively.
Provide face-to-face and telephone support to drivers for queries and operational guidance.
Liaise with the Transport Manager on vehicle maintenance scheduling.
Work with Site Managers to share ETA and other operational updates.
Coordinate out-of-hours callouts and manage vehicle breakdowns.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Transport Planner or Supervisor in a fast-paced transport environment.
Strong understanding of transport systems and driver management tools.
In-depth knowledge of tachograph laws and regulations.
Effective workload organisation, capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently with initiative and reliability.
High levels of motivation and a meticulous approach to work.
IT proficient and numerate, with competence in MS Office and transport software.
