We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Supervisor to join our recently opened Birmingham Branch. We are looking for someone who is driven, focused, customer orientated as well as commercially & industry aware. A good geographical knowledge is essential along with previous experience of multi-drop distribution. Experience in compliance and FORS is desirable, as is a HGV 2 licence.
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic transport team helping to take the business forward and promote organic growth furthering their own career along the way. They would be expected to communicate with a wide and diverse group of stakeholders essential to the smooth running of the business. A hands on approach is a must to work alongside our drivers therefore experience in a similar field is essential for this role.
Our ideal candidate must be of strong character and be able to work independently and as a key part of our existing transport team. Attention to detail, with strong planning and organisational skills is a must along with excellent time and work management.
We are looking for a dynamic individual who can adapt quickly to change, someone who is proactive & self-motivated who can work under pressure whilst producing work of a high standard.
This role would be to assist the Transport Manager in allocating work for our commercial vehicles of varying size as well as a small fleet of company cars. This would include briefing and de-briefing of drivers, assisting with the raising purchase orders, record keeping and occasional assistance in disciplinary procedures. You will also be required to support with compliance issues and booking PMI's.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and coordinate daily vehicle schedules for cable distribution
Monitor and adjust routes in real-time to maintain delivery performance
Work closely with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers to ensure timely deliveries
Maintain compliance with transport regulations and company standards
Accurately record and report all transport activities and performance data
Requirements:
Proven experience in transport planning (experience in cable or construction materials distribution is an advantage)
Good geographical knowledge and a strong understanding of logistics processes
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Comfortable using transport planning software and Microsoft Office
Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
FORS Experience desirable
HGV 2 Licence desirable
