Overview



We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Transport Team Lead to join our night shift team. Reporting to the Transport Manager Nights, you will oversee a team of Drivers, Transport Operators, and Debrief Clerks, ensuring efficient transport movements, factory clearance, and exceptional customer service within agreed budgets. This role is critical to maintaining smooth operations, compliance with regulations, and high standards of service delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Location: NewCold Corby, Curver Way, NN17 5XN.

Hours: 4 on 4 off (18:30 - 06:30).

Salary: Up to 40,000.00 (CPC dependent).

Key Responsibilities



Utilise transport software to manage and update the daily plan, ensuring accurate allocation of resources. Collaborate with the warehouse team to align load management with the operational plan. Oversee Transport Operators and Driver Debrief Clerks to ensure timely communication of delays to relevant stakeholders. Audit driver packs, brief drivers before departure, and verify the authenticity and validity of driver licenses to ensure compliance. Monitor transportation as a live event, proactively addressing delays to meet customer delivery expectations. Ensure routes are dispatched in full compliance with legal and safety regulations. Manage front desk administration, maintain accurate records, and handle Proof of Delivery (POD) reporting, escalating issues to the Transport Manager as needed. Produce daily shift reports and deliver comprehensive, accurate handovers to the next shift. Engage with customers to address inquiries, provide assistance, and foster positive relationships to enhance satisfaction. Complete Sickness and Absence Reports, conduct Return to Work assessments, and support investigations, disciplinaries, and grievances while maintaining confidentiality. Complete Incident Reports and Investigations, including Road Traffic Collision (RTC) Reports, Staff Injury, and Near Miss Reports.

Requirements



Qualifications and Experience

Previous experience in a similar transport planning or operations role is essential. Proficiency in transport software and general computer literacy. Strong knowledge of driver's hours regulations and working time rules. Good understanding of UK geography with the ability to estimate journey times accurately. Transport Manager CPC qualification is desirable.
