Your New Role
Supporting children and young people with SEMH needs, including trauma, emotional dysregulation and behavioural challenges
Using your understanding of attachment and trauma to develop strong, stable relationships with pupils
Helping to deliver personalised learning and behaviour plans, often linked to EHCPs
Encouraging emotional regulation and creating a calm, consistent classroom environment
Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external professionals to provide joined?up support
Full classroom hours: 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday -- no shift work, no evenings, no weekends
Who This Role is Ideal For
Qualified counsellors, therapists or trauma-informed professionals who want to bring their skills into education
Individuals from youth work, mental health, care or social services backgrounds
Reflective, grounded practitioners who understand how trauma affects behaviour, trust and learning
Strong communicators who can build rapport, stay calm under pressure and work as part of a supportive team
A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification is required for this mainstream school-based role
Prior classroom experience is welcomed, but not essential -- your therapeutic mindset is what makes the difference

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
