Treasurer (3 4 Days Monthly)

Job Description

Main duties and responsibilities:



- Bookkeeping: Maintain general ledger and subsidiary ledgers for HHSWMT and HSL in Sage or equivalent accounting package, keeping appropriate paper and electronic records and backups of all electronic records.

- Management accounts: Prepare consolidated management accounts for HHSWMT & its subsidiary HSL. This comprises P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, with comparatives to prior year and budget, and commentary on key items.

- Purchase ledger: Process 30 invoices each month, prepare a monthly payment run for approval, make payments through online banking, and set up new suppliers/bank payees.

- Sales ledger: Process 20 invoices each month, of which 6 require to be prepared/calculated and raised to the food and beverage leaseholder. Raise two invoices quarterly. Prepare aged debt analysis and recover any outstanding debts.

- Banking: Process approximately 80 bank transactions across all four active accounts per month. Reconcile these four accounts to the ledger.

- VAT: Prepare and submit consolidated VAT return incorporating results of HHSWMT, HSL and our sporting sections (HJRFC, HCC, HTC, HUF). Coordinate repayment or recovery of funds from sections. Calculate the annual adjustment to partial exemption %.

- Corporation Tax: Liaise with French Duncan over preparation of corporation tax returns for HSL and HHSWMT (if required).

- Statutory accounts: Send year-end Sage back-up file to French Duncan, provide working papers, and coordinate responses to questions. Perform intragroup transfer pricing invoices at year end to ensure appropriate costs reported in HSL and HHSWMT.

- Gift aid: Submit gift aid return to HMRC incorporating detailed data provided by sections of their eligible donations.

- Other: Answer ad hoc queries from membership secretary and directors. Attend finance sub-committee meetings by invitation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:



- Proven experience as a treasurer, with at least three years of experience in bookkeeping roles.

- Proficiency in bookkeeping software

- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work under minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills:



- Experience with bookkeeping software (ideally Sage)

- Knowledge of partial exempt input VAT is preferrable

Time commitment:



- Estimated 3-4 days per month, mostly at times of the successful candidate's choosing
