The role:


The Treasury & Tax Director holds overall responsibility for the Group's Treasury and Tax functions, with a focus on safeguarding liquidity, managing risk and ensuring regulatory compliance across all related activities. The role holder will provide strategic leadership on liquidity, funding, capital deployment, tax compliance, and tax planning to support the Group's long-term financial objectives, specifically including corporate funding for Partner Lending. This person will also be accountable for the management of the Group's non-client-linked assets including share schemes.


What you'll be doing:

Leadership & Oversight:

Lead and manage the Treasury, Treasury Operations and Group Tax teams, including providing oversight to SS&C, Capita, State Street, RD, Asia. Contributor to Client Money Steering Group supporting governance over the critical area of Client Money.

Treasury Strategic support:

Provide strategic insight on funding, liquidity, and capital deployment decisions, shaping options and recommendations that support long-term financial planning and business growth.

Cash Management and Forecasting:

Lead all aspects of weekly cash-flow forecasting, analysis, and reporting on liquidity, FX requirements, and hedging; ensure Group liquidity at all times.

Treasury Management System:

Be the subject matter authority on the Treasury Management System (Kyriba) in respect of all trade and administrative related tasks including problem solving to support the team.

Banking:

Oversee group bank accounts, including opening, closing and maintenance working with Finance Ops and Co Sec to ensure accounts are correctly set up, funded, and compliant with internal policies.

Administration & Reporting:

In a small team, support day-to-day treasury admin tasks, including updating liquidity dashboards, producing bank account visibility reports, and managing entity-level cash flow tracking

Tax:

Oversee the Group Tax function through the Tax Director, ensuring robust compliance and maintaining control over provision, computations, and regulatory submissions; ensure all Group entities meet relevant corporate tax obligations while contributing to strategic tax planning and risk mitigation across the Group.

Corporate funding:

Oversee corporate funding for partner lending, securitisation, and refinancing, ensuring alignment with group liquidity strategy and regulatory requirements, working with resources from Partner Investment.

Shareholder Asset Management

: Oversight of all Group balance sheet assets that are not SJPUTG sponsored collectives (UTS and NURS), or other matching client liabilities (life insurance funds). Also, management of these assets but not management of Partner lending and equity investment. Specifically includes liaison with HR Reward team in relation to purchase of SJP shares for purposes of matching share schemes.

Treasury Operations:

Oversee the processing of financial transactions, including banking and payments. Manage and ensure delivery against budget, targets and reporting requirements.

Relationship Management:

Manage key banking, borrowing and Money Market fund relationships, as well as support CFO and wider Finance on banking, hedging, and cash flow activities; manage operational performance of key suppliers.

Risk Management:

Lead the identification, monitoring, and mitigation of corporate treasury and tax risks across the Group, including Credit, Liquidity, Interest Rate, Foreign Exchange, and Treasury Operations risk, ensuring robust internal controls and compliance with regulatory expectations.

Senior Finance SM&CR (As Required):

Responsibility for a finance-related SM&CR responsibility, such as CFO or Chief Actuary of a significant regulated Group subsidiary.

Who we're looking for:


The ideal candidate will combine technical knowledge, commercialism and leadership to build the Treasury function, possessing deep knowledge and experience of treasury and associated risk functions in both a UK and wider jurisdictional context. It would be desirable if they also had knowledge and experience of Tax and associated compliance functions in a UK and wider jurisdictional context. They will be commercially aware of the opportunities for Treasury investment and financial instruments to manage cashflow e.g. Foreign Exchange contracts and funding arrangements. They will be fluent with accounting systems (Business World ideally), online banking systems, Treasury Management systems (Kyriba) and analysis services such as Bloomberg and Reuters. They will have an excellent understanding of the financial activities, tax considerations and cashflows of major SJP companies and an appreciation of the Governance structure of the business. This person will have strategic problem-solving skills and be able to apply expert judgement to solve complex issues whilst meeting regulatory requirements. They will need to be hands on with excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with external parties and a wide range of internal Stakeholders and colleagues.


Essential Criteria


Qualified corporate treasurer holding ACT qualification (minimum AMCT) or equivalent professional qualification and experience. Proven experience of senior management of major finance functions including Treasury and ideally Tax. Previous experience of successfully leading a high-performance team. Fluency with accounting systems, online banking systems and Treasury Management Systems. Understanding of the financial activities, tax considerations and cashflows of major SJP companies and functions. Understanding of the Governance structure of the SJP business (can be acquired).
