About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to be the Trials Team Lead for a high performing team of multi-disciplinary technicians and engineers delivering critical test & evaluation of Radar Cross Section (RCS) signatures, Antenna performance and Radar Unwanted Emissions (UE).

The Trials Team Lead position is a blended role that provides the opportunity to lead the team, focusing on development of people and provision of the right resources alongside delivering directly into projects using your technical knowledge and expertise.

QinetiQ is a leading provider of radar signature measurement and knowledge to all areas within the MOD including the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force underpinned by the Long Term Partnering Agreement (LTPA) we have with the MOD to support test and evaluation of military assets.

Our Radar cross section capability carries out specialised trials and evaluations across the UK and Europe to help us to improve platform protection against radar threats through signature management and use of radar countermeasures.

What I will be doing.

  • The Trials Team Lead will maintain an onsite presence to drive positive behaviours and decision making to deliver improved efficiency;
  • You will lead the development of the competency in the team in line with individual development needs (PDRs and Mandatory Training) and business requirements;
  • The Trials Team Lead will be responsible for working as part of a wider team to identify improvements in productivity across the Group by sharing best practice and lessons learnt;
  • You will proactively manage the team\'s demand. This will include understanding current and future demand and seeking out tasks where necessary to maintain utilisation and meet delivery milestones;
  • The Trials Team Lead will drive a safety culture that ensures all people are safe and compliant with all safety legislation.
  • You will develop an effective and collaborative environment in their team.
What do I need?

To carry out this role effectively, we are looking for people with knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Radar systems
  • Radar signature measurement
  • Instrumentation radars
  • Radar Signal Processing and radar waveforms
  • Electronic warfare (EW)
  • Operational understanding of RCS related to platform protection of both maritime and air platforms
  • Through-Life engineering management
  • RF/microwave test and measurement
  • General electronics
