The successful applicant will be on-call for Urology at registrar level covering St Richards and Worthing hospital.The Urology department at University Hospitals Sussex. The trust provides Urological Services for a population of 450,000 in West Sussex. The department has in-patients at Worthing and St Richard's with access to theatre and clinic facilities at St. Richard's, Worthing and Southlands Hospitals.At Worthing Hospital, outpatients are mainly held in a new purpose-built outpatient department, and endoscopy in a dedicated unit. There are theatre facilities for both short stay and major surgical procedures for Urology patients. Nephrectomy and adrenalectomy, PCNL along with TURiS , HOLEP and TURBT and all stone surgery is carried out with dedicated theatre teams.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will be part of a busy, cohesive DGH department. Depending on their previous experience they will be able to participate in or run outpatient clinics which could include prostate biopsies, flexible cystoscopies, intravesical Botox injections as well as specialist and general urology clinics. The successful candidate would also have dedicated access to theatre sessions (these could include endourology, functional, paediatric or general urology). The successful candidate would participate in daily ward rounds and help juniors with ward work, they would be encouraged to teach juniors also. As part of a busy team they could attend MDTs.
