Job Description


We are looking to appoint 0.4wte Trust Grade St3+ Registrar in Clinical Neurophysiology, based at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel. There are 4 Clinical Neurophysiology Consultants based at the Royal London Hospital, with all facilities within the new hospital, which opened in March 2012. This position is advertised for a 6-month position.
This position will work to support the Department of Neurophysiology in managing both inpatient and outpatient demands placed on the service. The post holder will work closely with the consultant, physiologist and administrative teams within the service to ensure a high-class service. There will be no on call component of this posting and the post holder is expected to work 2 days per week.
The post will include outpatient NCS/EMG clinics, EEG reporting and Video Telemetry review and will be based at the Royal London Hospital.
You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council. Previous registrar level experience in a Neuroscience-based specialty is required to apply for this post.
Main duties of the job
To provide evidence-based care for all patients and to work flexibly to the prescribed rota to support the service, including inpatient and outpatient duties.
To participate fully in the organization of the Department and to liaise closely with the Clinical Neurophysiology Consultants, physiologists/clinical Scientists, administrative and managerial teams within the Department.
The post holder will run clinics under the supervision of a Consultant in the Department.
The post holder may be required to carry out other duties in emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
The duties outlined are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service requiring the post holder to be cooperative and flexible.
The postholder is expected to work closely with the registrars in the specialty, and participate in weekly meetings, presentations and research activities.
The post holder will organize and undertake 3 monthly formal assessments to document the progress in their training and to identify support when required
The post holder will participate in the Trust's clinical effectiveness activities and will encourage and foster improvements in the quality and standards of clinical services
Development and take part in Continuing Medical Education activities to maintain standards of performance and in consultation with the Lead Clinician.
