We are looking for 2 Trust Doctors (ST4+ equivalent) to join our Paediatrics team at Worthing Hospital, 1 until September 2026 and 1 until March 2026.
This is a full-time/ part-time role including participation in a full shift rota system.
The successful candidate will work alongside other team members to provide a full shift rota at middle grade level which will involve acute paediatrics and neonates.
Candidates must have completed foundation training (or equivalent) and have at least 2 further years of Paediatric experience ideally including 6 months in a tertiary neonatal unit. Full MRCPCH should be held or be close to being held.
Candidates must have full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC.
Candidates will be expected to work together as a team within the Women and Children's Group.
This post holder essentially covers Acute Paediatric unit and Neonatal unit at a Middle grade level. The post holder is responsible for the following:
Managing children admitted to the Paediatric ward under supervision of a Consultant
Seeing patients referred to the Paediatric Assessment unit and providing support and advice to A &E doctors, General Practitioners
Attending resuscitation calls in A&E
Supervising and supporting Tier 1 doctors in patient care in children's ward and assessment unit
Managing babies on the Neonatal unit under supervision of consultant
Supervision and supporting Tier 1 doctors in patient care for babies on the neonatal unit and maternity unit
Attending high risk deliveies on the maternity unit
Support and teaching of junior medical, nursing staff and medical students
Engaging in Continuing Professional Development and Audit as appropriate
Engaging with the Trusts appraisal and revalidation process so far as is consistent with the proper discharge of duties the post holder undertakes to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues
The post holder undertakes, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
The post holder undertakes, exceptionally, to be available for such irregular commitments outside normal rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.
