Trust Governance Clerk to Governors

3-4 hours per week (flexible working considered), Permanent position, to start as soon as possible. Term Time only plus 2 weeks (40 weeks per annum)
Payscale, SLT Grade G 13 \xc2\xa325,409 fte (actual starting salary salary \xc2\xa31,814.55 - \xc2\xa32,419.40)

We are seeking to appoint a clerk/governance professional to provide clerking and administrative services to the governors of Woodgate Primary Academy, part of Sussex Learning Trust. We are looking for an organised, professional team player to join our friendly and supportive clerking and governance team.

Do you have excellent interpersonal, administration and organisational skills? Are you proactive and able to maintain a professional service when working with a variety of stakeholders? Then you could be what we are looking for.

The Clerk\'s role is to support the Governance Support Officer in delivering and overseeing all aspects of governance compliance and effectiveness within the Trust\'s academies. Previous clerking or minute-taking experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

It is expected that you will work an average of 3-4 hrs per week in term time with a degree of flexibility regarding working times, including potentially some working from home. You must be able to attend regular scheduled governor meetings which are usually held on Tuesday evenings in Pease Pottage (around 6-8 meetings a year) and on occasion travel to our other academy sites within Sussex. These details will be discussed at the interview stage.

The key areas of work include:
working with the Chair of Governors, the Headteacher, Trust Officers and others to produce meeting agenda and papers on time in advance of meetings of the local governing body;
clerking and minuting meetings of the local governing body;
providing procedural and constitutional advice to support and enable governors to meet their statutory obligations and fulfil strategic functions;
maintaining registers and databases of the local governing body.
