The 700,000 children and young people growing up in poverty in London are facing a perfect storm: an inactivity pandemic and a mental health crisis. Young people who are less physically and mentally healthy do less well in life. We believe in the transformative power of football to help tackle these challenges - and to build more connected, resilient communities.
But the benefits of regular access to the nation's game are not open to all and impossibly expensive for many. Our financial assistance model, combined with a delivery plan mapped to areas of greatest deprivation, is already making football accessible to over 6,200 children and young people every week. In a city that is increasingly divided, we also bring together young people from different socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities and nationalities - forging friendships and understanding across these divides.
We've come a long way in a short time, but we're determined to reach many more young people. That means expanding our Girls Football provision, extending our outreach into more of London's most disadvantaged areas, and supporting even
more young people through our Refugee & Asylum Seeker and Disability Football programmes. In the past three years, we've punched well above our weight - growing fundraised income from 750,000 to over 3.5 million. We're aiming to keep that momentum going, with a goal to grow fundraised income to around 8 million by 2028.
To help us get there, we're looking for someone who backs themselves to play an important role in our Trusts & Foundations team, which is an integral part of a Fundraising team aiming to become the best in the country. Our fast paced and ambitious culture is matched by a commitment to the personal growth of each team member and a palpably fun, friendly and supportive environment in which to work.
Anthony Hayman | Director of Fundraising
About the role
Our new Trusts & Foundations Lead will support the growth of our largest income stream. Trusts and foundations currently generate around 2 million of our 3.5 million annual fundraised income, and in the last financial year alone we secured our first two seven-figure multi-year commitments, along with two further 0.5 million multi-year commitments -- testament to the huge potential in this area.
AI is set to revolutionise trusts and foundations fundraising. The postholder will be expected to engage enthusiastically and skillfully with the AI tools we are harnessing and developing - unlocking new opportunities and helping to accelerate the charity's success.
We are looking for someone with a very high ceiling for growth and impact. You will need to manage competing priorities effectively and proactively contribute to improving the team's efficiency.
We are working to achieve scale at a level no other sport-for-good charity in the UK ever has - every team member will play a vital part in making that ambition a reality.
About you - what
we're
looking for
We're looking for an exceptional candidate with a sharp intellect, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and the drive to make a real impact. Ideally, you will have at least a year of professional experience in a fast-paced environment and be ready to step into a role with significant responsibility from day one.
You don't need a background in fundraising or the charity sector. What matters most is that you are organised, proactive and confident - able to manage multiple priorities at once, write clearly and persuasively, and represent the charity credibly in meetings with senior stakeholders and funders.
You'll thrive on delivering high-quality work at pace, enjoy taking ownership of projects, and be excited by the challenge of supporting funding applications and reports that help change young people's lives. This role will see you contribute directly to major grant proposals, lead on grant funder reporting and stewardship, and play an active role in securing long-term partnerships - including attending meetings with supporters.
You'll be a fast learner with excellent attention to detail and a growth mindset - keen to take feedback, build new skills and help develop more efficient, tech-enabled ways of working. We'll support you to develop rapidly in the role, and expect you to bring energy, curiosity and a high standard of professionalism in return.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a high-potential individual to kick-start a meaningful, dynamic career - in a team that's ambitious, collaborative and serious about personal development.
