JOB DESCRIPTION
?
Are you looking for a career that steps in to stop children going into long term
statutory care?
?
Are you passionate in keeping children with their families and preventing placement breakdowns?
?
Could you work with children and their families in a fast-paced environment that gives positive, focussed outcomes swiftly?
If the answer is yes, then this could be the career for you!
The Turnaround Project is residential care, but not as you know it! The aims of the project are to step in when children and families are in crisis, with early intervention provided through a short term 'turnaround' project to help prevent the breakdown of placements, so that children can remain with their families or foster carers, preventing multiple placement
breakdowns and a life within the care system.
Do you have the following skills and positive attributes?
Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the young person and service, including evenings, overnight and weekend hours
Ability to follow care plans, implementing boundaries and providing a consistent approach
Able to work as part of a team and the wider organisation
The resilience and self-esteem to see beyond behaviours which challenge and not take them personally
Excellent communication and relationship building skills
Ability to work under pressure and make decisions quickly
Ability to stay calm particularly during volatile situations
Able to challenge inappropriate behaviour
Acting as a positive role model for young people and other staff members
Be able to work in partnership and use your skills to engage with children in a meaningful way.
Be able to work intensively and in a planned way with children, family or carers and other agencies and services, supporting children and families to achieve their potential.
Be able to undertake direct work with children & young people, parenting work and group work.
You will also need to be able to engage with children and young people and their families/carers and support Social Workers in managing risk and achieving positive change working within a trauma informed approach to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
The ability to see beyond behaviours which challenge and identify the root cause, supporting young people to develop healthy coping strategies, enabling them to return home to live with family members, or continue within their long term placement.
Why work for us?
Hanbury Care Ltd opened its first Residential Children's Home in 2021 with the Senior Management Team having over 100 years of experience between them of working within Social Care and Education with children, young people and their families. We offer homes for children and young people up to the age of 18 years, who display social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties and associated complex needs. This is including, but not exclusive to non-education engagement; child exploitation; trafficking and modern-day slavery; self-harm; anger management and aggression; drug and alcohol misuse.
We focus on providing young people with nurture, structure, routine and consistency with a therapeutic approach to behaviour management through intensive, tailored packages of support which is child centred and enables us to meet the individual needs of the child and their families/carers, as well as an environment that supports a child to feel safe and reach their potential.
At Hanbury Care Ltd, we are a family, creating positive futures not just for the children and young people we support, but for our employees too. One of the reasons we offer free private Healthcare is because we look after our staff and their well-being, wanting them to be cared for to the highest standards, like we do for our children.
All of our staff are provided with high quality training, in line with Welsh regulations, to ensure their practice and knowledge remains up to date. We offer every member of staff the opportunity of career progression, in an ever-growing company, we grow our own!
We offer great work/life balance. Due to the nature of the role, our staff work 24-hour shifts, including sleep ins. Full time hours include the equivalent of just over 2 shifts a week, which provides lots of days off to relax and re-charge.

This role might not be right for everybody, it's challenging and rewarding in equal measures, but if you're still reading and think this could be for you, we would love for you to get in touch! If you have any questions, pick up the phone for an informal discussion.
Our work is emotionally and physically demanding at times, which is why we have support in place from our experienced and qualified Leadership Team, as well as regular reflective practice supervision. In addition to these, you will be supported with monthly one to one sessions, regular coffee mornings, monthly team meetings, and company social events.
No two days in the team are the same, the work we do is incredibly rewarding and when we see our children working towards their full potential, it's the best feeling in the world!
