The Opportunity
As the Joint Design Office (JDO) Turnkey Engineering Lead, you will report directly to the JDO Turnkey Engineering Manager and play a key role in leading a multi-disciplinary team responsible for addressing site queries, including design changes, non-conformance, and technical issues, within the multiple Turnkey (Design Manufacture, Install and Commission) contracts.
These contracts cover a large array of equipment including the Primary loop systems installation and commissioning, the Turbine Hall equipment and systems installation and commissioning, the diesel generators, as well as all the handling equipment including the refuelling machine and the polar crane.
You will support the Turnkey Engineering Manager and be responsible for providing technical responses to site queries and ensure the team is staffed with suitably qualified and experienced personnel to assess changes related to nuclear and environmental categorisation, as well as engineering design, throughout the construction phase.
You will work with great autonomy in interface with key Contractors designers offices, in a challenging commercial and technical context, and lead an exciting team of professional of all disciplines to ensure delivery of technical topics from start of construction to handover to operations, with a strong client positioning required to assert NNB's involvement in reviewing and acceptance design modifications on key systems.

What you'll be doing
You will identify and manage resource requirements for the schedule, ensuring that the team, consultants, and contractors adapt to evolving technical demands during construction. Additionally, you will oversee Operational Leads, ensuring they operate within their delegated responsibilities.
Resolve technical queries with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance, while also identifying risks and escalating issues as needed. You will play a pivotal role in team performance by facilitating risk mitigation, monitoring progress, and presenting solutions to overcome challenges. Moreover, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of JDO processes and procedures, ensuring excellence in delivery and decision-making support.
Lead the implementation of the NNB Zero Harm policy, ensuring compliance with Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations.
Who you are
We are seeking a degree-qualified professional (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with proven leadership experience in the nuclear industry or another safety-critical sector. You will have a strong track record of fostering collaborative, cross-functional relationships with partners, aligning efforts with common goals and agreements. Experience working with diverse stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment and resolving complex issues is essential.
You will have extensive technical knowledge, including a solid understanding of design, design processes and design management. Experience and understanding of the nuclear industry is highly desirable. You will be a strategic thinker who can navigate technical challenges and contribute to the successful delivery of projects in a safety-critical context.
