Job Description

Role Purpose:



Test-fly and build unmanned aerial vehicles during development stages. Conduct demonstration flights with customers and government officials to display performance abilities. Work with pilots, design engineers, and others to develop autopilot software controlling all aspects of UAV flight, augmenting navigation systems to improve performance in a range of flight conditions. Assist with flight trials planning and preparation, including input to trials plans, NOTAMS, OSC's etc.

Key Responsibilities:



MLab - Join the MLab team to contribute to the in-house physical prototyping capability of Blue Bear



Work with design engineers to manufacture parts using various construction techniques.

Piece together basic electrical assemblies such as power / servo wiring.

Install, test, and setup avionics assemblies.

CNC machine operation (Router, lathe, foam cutter, laser cutter etc).

Flight Team - Work collaboratively as an integral part of a small team delivering a successful flight trial flights and ensuring vehicle readiness stat



Fulfill role UAV safety pilot and / or UAV Operator (GCS operator).

Complete vehicle maintenance logs and flight checklists.

Make safety critical decisions during flight operations.

Vehicle Battery Management and battery charging supervision (Li-Po, Li-Ion, NiMH, Lead-Acid cells and vehicle battery packs).

Flight Operations Team - Join and support the internal Flight Operations Team



Assist with OSC preparation and submission.

Assist with NOTAM preparation and submission.

Develop vehicle operations manuals.

Assist with flight trials planning and preparation, including input to trials plans.

Input into company-wide vehicle safety planning and procedures.

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

Vehicle Flight Assessment and airworthiness Maintenance of the UAV platform Ability of interpreting 2D manufacturing drawings BMFA 'FW' and 'RW' B certification (or equivalent)

Multi Rotor skills and heavy lift experience Good knowledge of UAV / Model aircraft manufacturing techniques Good skills in use of hand and machine tools Operational Safety Case (OSC) development / creation experience

Skills Required

Excellent Communication Skills Highly motivated team player Working to health and safety standards

Skills Desired



CAD skills (ideally SolidWorks or Similar) CNC coding BMFA 'QI' - Qualified Instructor (or equivalent) VTOL UAV operation experience
