Thorn SDS, a niche Managed Service Provider, who are committed to enabling technology organisations and professionals to thrive within the Space, Defence and Security sectors, are looking for an ambitious and talented

User-Centred Design (UCD) Specialist

to help shape the future of public-facing digital experiences.

This project is currently in its early setup phase. The role will ultimately be based in

Alton, Hampshire

but initial onboarding will take place in

Exeter

for a possible 2-3 months. Further occasional travel to Exeter will also be required. The position is primarily

onsite

, with a full-time schedule of 5 days per week.

Responsibilities

Conduct insightful

user research

to uncover real needs and pain points. Design seamless

user journeys and prototypes

grounded in evidence. Create

clear, accessible content

that follows

GDS

guidelines. Creation and maintenance of documentation, and training of users. Working with and transforming large and frequently updating data sets. Work closely with developers and stakeholders to champion

user-centred design

at every step.

Requirements

Proven experience leading User Interface (UI) & User Experience (UX) design, mock up, wire framing Experience of working with Scientific experts to ensure the solution delivers high quality and useful information to the user community. Proven expertise in

user research methodologies

Strong background in

service design

and

rapid prototyping

Deep understanding of

content strategy

and

accessibility best practices

Experience working to

GDS standards

in digital service delivery
