OVERVIEW:
Merrick & Company (Merrick & Co) with headquarters in Denver, Colorado, USA is an international full service Architectural Engineering (A/E) firm. Our subsidiary in the United Kingdom, Merrick and Company UK Ltd (Merrick UK), focuses on design, engineering, and operations consulting to find the right solutions to fit our clients' needs.
The Nuclear Services & Technology (NST) Business Unit consists of highly trained and motivated professionals providing expertise in the design and engineering of process equipment and nuclear facilities for defense programs, research and development of radioactive materials, non-reactor nuclear facility structures, systems, and components, nuclear reactor specialty systems, and nuclear material production facilities. Recognizing that there is a revitalization of nuclear infrastructure (R&D, Medical, Power, etc.) in the UK and European Union (EU), NST is expanding our capabilities to provide necessary and urgent engineering services in the region. We are looking to build a collaborative business that supports and compliments the existing supply chain and ensures that it can meet the significant demand going forward.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Merrick UK is seeking a highly motivated, and forward-thinking individual to become our UK NST Operations Manager. The Operations Manager will be responsible for supporting the UK NST Director to establish the UK business. Critical to this will be acquiring required certifications, establishing personnel, physical, and cyber security arrangements, establishing the physical UK office(s), recruiting staff, supporting business development activities, and negotiating and executing contracts.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and has experience working in the UK defence sector and preferably also in the nuclear sector, ideally in a project management or business development role. Of critical importance will be the ability and determination to understand complex issues, identify solutions and drive robust solutions, working with internal and external stakeholders, consultants and contractors. Initially the role will require working across all the aforementioned areas, however as the business grows, we anticipate the individual moving into a more focused role, either in Project Management, Commercial Management, or Business Development. The opportunity to join the business at such an early stage of establishment within the UK nuclear market offers a unique opportunity to learn a broad range of skills, to develop and grow with the business, and to play a significant part in the success of the business.
It is anticipated that the NST Operations Manager will initially be a full-time telecommuter (initial 6 to 12 months) working from their home office until a corporate office is established in proximity to key client projects. The Operations Manager will be compensated per corporate policy for travel to / from client meetings, engagements, conferences, and other events in the UK, EU, and USA.
