Diagnostic World are a leading provider of NHS and Private healthcare with services delivered from Community Diagnostic Centres and Community Health Centres. Within our service offering, we provide General & Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and Echocardiography to patients across the Midlands & South-East on a referred and self-referred basis.
We are seeking a Clinical Lead to support and provide leadership for our Ultrasound services across the United Kingdom.
What you will do:
You will make healthcare better for our patients by nurturing and training a team to deliver a high-quality ultrasound service. You will work alongside the Clinical Trainer to provide training and support to clinical teams across the nation both in person and remotely. You will drive to inspire and motivate the team to consistently deliver a safe and effective service every day.
What you are responsible for:
Clinical
Undertake ultrasound procedures in line with existing modality specific clinical guidelines and protocols (aligned with RCR & SOR Standards)
Undertake examinations in line with the patient referrals adhering to organisational guidelines
Maintain professional competencies and CPD
Ensure due regard is given to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients and to ensure patients views are sought and considered
Manage a safe, effective, caring and well led environment responsive to our patients, customer and staff requirements
Support the Clinical Lead as required
Provide training and support for trainee Sonographers in all areas of scanning and reporting
Operations
Support the Operational Management Team with operational queries and cover clinics as a Sonographer as required
Participate in team meetings and ensure effective communication within the service
Compile reports as required by senior and operational management
Ensure all Patient Information Systems are maintained with accurate and up to date information
Ensure the security and upkeep of all relevant electronic patient and employee records
Ensure copies of all reports are stored in the correct central designated folder and that all scans are reported in the same working day (unless second opinion needed)
Any other duties as required by business needs
Governance
Investigate and respond to service user complaints as appropriate and as directed by management
Investigate and manage incidents reported through our incident reporting system as appropriate and as directed by management
Provide second opinions upon request and review reports for 2 reporting as required
Understand and adhere to the companies Health and Safety Policy
Demonstrate safe, effective practice in line with the company policies and procedures
Follow ultrasound specific protocols, in line with requirements, to support the service
Support the Clinical Lead with review of protocols, agenda items and driving completion of forum actions as required
People Management
Promote equal opportunities for staff
Direct and supervise the workload of the sonographers under your training and supervision
Address and manage conduct and capability issues with the Clinical Lead in line with company policy to include formal disciplinary investigations if required
Ensure adequate and effective staff development
Maintain accurate training, professional development and performance records
Participate in the recruitment selection of applicants
Commercial & Service Development
Develop service in line with patients, contractual and Diagnostic World requirements
Manage quality service on site with safety of patients/staff being the priority
Manage customer satisfaction (CCG, NHS, commissioner, other) and patient feedback
Drive team to ensure excellent patient experience, providing feedback via patient satisfaction survey completion and reporting
Act as the Clinical Lead and advisor when acquiring new accreditations and supporting operational and clinical teams with ongoing accreditation compliance.
Quality & Audit
Undertaking a range of audit assignments, involving all aspects of Ultrasound, following consultation with the Consultant Radiologist, Clinical Trainer and Head of Operations.
Ensure that individual audit results are discussed with the relevant sonographer to ensure that continued learning and development is maintained whilst linking in with the Clinical Lead for training & development.
As required, attend or participate as a member of other committees, groups or workshops
Through our Internal Audit work, provide an effective contribution to our Quality Assurance Framework
Promote and maintain good client relations and the good reputation of Diagnostic World by ensuring audit work is undertaken with integrity, competence, objectivity and confidentiality
Provide cost effective and practical advice, both written and verbal, to staff and management on audit processes and outcomes and other related matters as and when requested
Discuss and agree with the National Clinical Lead and Consultant Radiologist Clinical Lead audit findings, recommendations and suggested solutions as appropriate, together with implementation timescales and local responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all systems and processes for internal audit
Review incoming referrals against exclusion criteria and triage appropriately according to clinical information presented on the request card.

You will:
Hold a minimum of a PGD in Ultrasound (or equivalent) achieve through a UK educational institute
Be a member of an appropriate professional body with valid registration
Have experience in clinical audits, compiling results and presenting outcomes
Demonstrate an appreciation of patient care
Have a full understanding of the implications of the Data Protection Act, Information Governance Statement of Compliance and Caldicott Principles
Understand and be able to deliver on the Care Quality Commission fundamental standards for health care
Have excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills
Have developed interpersonal and relationship management skills
Be computer literate with accurate data entry skills and strong attention to detail
Be professional and have a cooperative attitude towards patients, customers and colleagues
Have a willingness to embrace new thinking and new technologies
Have evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Have a full UK Driving Licence
You will have experience of:
Prioritising conflicting demands successfully through developed organisational and time management skills
Significant clinical experience as a qualified sonographer, undertaking a wide range of procedures
Effectively supporting and training staff

Performing and managing ultrasound clinical audits
