Job Description

The School of Fine Art invites expressions of interest from internal colleagues at the Glasgow School of Art for the fixed-term role of Undergraduate Fine Art Programme Leader. This one-year opportunity (with the potential for extension on review) offers valuable experience in academic leadership, combining strategic oversight with operational responsibility.
The role will be undertaken on a 0.5 FTE basis, with the remaining 0.5 FTE dedicated to the post-holder's current academic, research, or leadership role. Backfill (0.5 FTE) will be provided to the post-holder's programme or department to support this arrangement.
The postholder will be renumerated via a one-year responsibility allowance, with an increase in two spine points for 12 months. (For example, this means that a colleague on spine point 46 (grade 8) would receive a total responsibility allowance of 3698).
About the Role:
Working in close collaboration with the Head of School, the Undergraduate Fine Art Programme Leader will support the leadership and day-to-day delivery of the UG Departments in the School of Fine Art.
Key areas of responsibility include (working closely with other key individuals, such as Heads of Department or Academic Development Lead):
Leading on the academic quality, delivery, and enhancement of the BA Fine Art programmes - ensuring consistency across all departments.
Ensuring effective planning, timetabling, and consistent standards of teaching, assessment, and student engagement
Line-managing undergraduate Heads of Department
Supporting a joined-up approach to the student experience and helping to coordinate student feedback processes, including surveys such as the NSS
Working with the Academic Development Lead to support curriculum development and new programme opportunities
Coordinating a consistent approach to (International, RUK and Home) undergraduate recruitment, working with departmental admissions tutors.
Representing the School at Senior Leadership Group, Academic Council, and other senior forums in the absence of the Head of School.
Coordinating planning and realisation of the annual UG Degree Show.
