Join us for your placement year in summer 2024!

Our internships are designed to give you an insight into what it\'s like to work for a world-renowned brand with a culture of support and community.

Using several different databases and research tools, you will assist the Standards Manager in protecting the Company\'s products from being placed at a disadvantage in the marketplace by forthcoming changes in legislation or standards. You will gain an awareness of how these changes can impact on the business.

Over a 13-month placement the successful candidate will be involved in:

  • Researching, processing, and recording proposed changes to standards and legislation to assist the Standards Manager.
  • Communicating suggested changes in standards and legislation to a cross-functional team of experts (both internal and external), external parties, Trade Associations, Standards Committees and Government Departments.
  • Task ownership of tracking and updating changes to standards and legislation and communicating these changes to the departments network. Including a proactive part in departmental briefing meetings with a range of audiences in the business.
  • Administrative support to the Standards Manager.
Development opportunities that the successful candidate will gain whilst on placement:
  • Multiple opportunities to communicate and discuss crucial issues that are affecting the business with senior management.
  • Acquiring and developing new or of existing knowledge and competencies within the department to extend your life and academic skills.
  • Wider experience of business operations whilst maintaining a consumer focus attitude.
The successful candidate will be supported and encouraged to contribute to departmental practices and communicate with national and international colleagues to meet business goals. This role may involve hybrid working based on \xe2\x80\x9cday to day\xe2\x80\x9d requirements and responsibilities.

Over the Winter period you may also be a key supporter of our \xe2\x80\x9caward\xe2\x80\x9d winning Worcester Contact Centre, answering inbound product related enquiries, typically 4 hours per week. This opportunity will allow you to develop and enhance your communication skills for the future whilst also enhancing your product knowledge. You will be supported by knowledgeable and experienced colleagues.

Qualifications

Please note that to be eligible for this role, you must be an undergraduate student seeking a placement year as part of your degree - if you do not meet these criteria please consider applying for other positions.

Previous successful undergraduates have been reading one or more of the following academic areas:
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic or Chemical Engineering
  • Building Sciences
  • Law
  • Business Studies
  • Economics
  • Politics and international relations
  • Geography
  • Biomedical Science

Additional Information

Expected Start Date: 1st July 2024

Working Hours: 39 hours a week; Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Thursday 08.00 - 17.00 and Fridays 08.00 - 16.00 with a 1-hour unpaid lunchbreak. Paid monthly in arrears.
