OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Government, Industry bodies and Standards Department primary purpose is to protect Worcester Bosch
from being disadvantaged in the marketplace from proposed short, medium, or long-term changes in product
related regulations. We work alongside internal departments on proposed changes in regulations and/or
standards which would influence the design and direction that future appliances and technologies.
We coordinate and lobby responses to European Law, UK Law, Voluntary standards such as Codes of Practice on UK Building Regulations, Standards for Product Design, and Installation Standards which relate to products
sold by Worcester Bosch.
The department represents the interests of Worcester Bosch on industry bodies concerning regulations,
standards for Product Design, Installation & Training and Codes of Practice by:
Preventing unfavourable political and legal conditions for the industry
Fair performance comparison between technologies and products
Clear and concise regulations and standards
Sustained incentives to promote the market
Contributing to the Carbon Reduction, Sustainability & Material Efficiency targets

In this role, you will be responsible for:
You will assist the Standards Manager and team in protecting Worcester Bosch products from being
disadvantaged in the marketplace by forthcoming changes in legislation or standards. By reporting to internal
departments on new or proposed changes in both regulations and standards which would influence the
design and direction that future appliances and technologies should take.
Role Responsibilities during the 13-month placement:
Researching, processing and recording proposed changes to product related standards and legislation to assist the Standards Manager.
Communicating proposed changes in product related standards and legislation to a cross-functional team of experts (both internal and external). Taking a proactive part in departmental briefing / meetings with a range of audiences in the business.
Providing feedback on proposed product related standards and legislation changes to external parties such as Trade Associations, Standards Committees and Government Departments.
Tracking the progress of changes to standards legislation.
Task ownership of the Early Warning database which includes tracking, providing training and updating about proposed changes in product related standards and legislation.
Administrative support to the Standards Manager.

Qualifications
Please note that to be eligible for this role, you must be an undergraduate student seeking a placement
year as part of your degree - if you do not meet these criteria please consider applying for other
positions.

Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
Comfortable to work without immediate supervision during periods of absence of Manager.
Computer Literacy; good understanding of Excel and power point.
Studying a degree from one of many disciplines is generally accepted.
General interest in politics and to think creatively

Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic or Chemical Engineering
