About the Role:

Working with divisional head and regional leads to deliver underwriting and strategic growth initiatives. Developing relationships with clients, brokers, independent risk engineers and technical experts.
Our ideal candidate will have experience of underwriting global offshore energy risks within the London and/or Lloyd's markets to support the continued growth of the offshore energy product line in London and our regional offices.

About the Department & Team:

Our Offshore Energy / Exploration and Production insurance provides protection to owners and operators around the world against a wide range of risks for both their Offshore and Onshore operations.
We offer a broad range of energy-related products from our Company and Lloyd's of London platforms that allow our clients to transfer their exploration and production risk exposures. We protect against the risks of physical loss or physical damage to property, resultant business interruption, control of well and re-drilling expenses, and third-party liabilities.
We are on an exciting journey to build out our portfolio with ambitions to develop into a market leader within the next few years.
Our product is currently serviced from London, Dubai and Singapore with the majority of the portfolio being underwritten in London.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning

Support the development of the annual business plan for the Underwriting division and ensure delivery of the plan in accordance with stated risk tolerances Ensure the team's awareness of the business plan and its context so that they are able to take appropriate action and make informed decisions Contribute and participate in all meetings in order to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice Contribute new ideas and concepts to support the development and delivery of the business plan Work in partnership with the entity and other entities across the regions to leverage relationships and opportunities


Delivery

Establish and strengthen relationships with brokers, industry bodies, business partners, reinsurers and colleagues, to maximise influence and achieve business objectives Demonstrate understanding and awareness of market dynamics and market cycles to drive and enhance business performance Undertake analysis of the location/market to identify new business opportunities, products and clients, ensuring a robust business case. Continually develop expertise and technical knowledge through appropriate development initiatives Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and personal authority to meet business objectives, including: Negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business Ensure client relationship is achieved through the efficient oversight of issues raised including liaison to ensure effective conclusion to complaints and claims. Compliance with the production and issue of documentation in accordance with contract certainty requirements Contribute and influence in the review and analysis of the portfolio, to identify progress towards business objectives Ensure entries are properly recorded onto relevant systems in a timely manner whilst ensuring accuracy of data with relation to both underwriting and aggregate exposures


Policy, Process and Procedures

Compliance with all applicable internal and external laws, regulations, policies, procedures and guidance Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and best practice methodology in order to minimise risk Apply any reinsurance requirements in accordance with stated risk tolerances and to deliver against business plan Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to LSM's commitment to our Liberty Values, placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. LSM expects you to understand your responsibilities relating to all regulatory and internal requirements, and to proactively demonstrate compliance with these requirements and behaviours at all times. These requirements include the Senior Managers and Certification Regime Conduct Rules, Solvency II, fair treatment of customers, Financial Crime, Data Protection, Conflicts of Interest, and Whistleblowing.


Skills and Experience:

Extensive experience in underwriting Offshore Energy Full or part ACII qualified. Self-motivated, with the confidence to leverage and build effective broker relationships. Willingness to organise and/or attend broker/client meetings Availability to travel to meet brokers/clients, attend conferences and visit regional offices. Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements Understanding of relevant software including Excel and other software packages Ability to analyse and use data for decision making Strong attention to detail Use of risk profiling and pricing tools and loss models Established customer/broker relationships Skills in wordings and legal/appetite/exposure implications
