Underwriter - Warranty and Insured Products

Salary: 40,000 - 50,000 (dependent on experience)

MotorEasy is looking to appoint an experienced Underwriter to take responsibility for pricing and risk management across our range of automotive warranty and insured products. This is a key role within the business, ensuring product performance is commercially viable while aligned with regulatory and partner expectations.

Role Responsibilities

Underwrite and price extended warranty products and related insured offerings, such as GAP insurance, breakdown cover, and MOT protection. Conduct analysis of claims trends and loss ratios to develop and refine pricing strategies and underwriting frameworks. Maintain underwriting criteria, risk tolerances, and eligibility matrices across all relevant product categories. Collaborate with internal departments (product, operations, marketing, sales) to ensure underwriting strategy aligns with commercial objectives. Act as a liaison with insurer and reinsurance partners to monitor performance and support capacity and compliance requirements. Provide input on the development and launch of new products, including pricing models and risk assessments. Reporting and analysis of the performance of the accounts.

Candidate Requirements

At least 2-3 years' experience in an underwriting role, ideally within the automotive, insurance, or warranty sector. Strong analytical and pricing skills, with advanced Excel competency (SQL or equivalent tools advantageous). Proven experience working with insured products, particularly vehicle warranties and ancillary insurance. Good understanding of FCA regulations and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles. Commercial acumen with the ability to apply risk-based thinking to business strategy. Comfortable operating autonomously and working cross-functionally at a senior level.
